Alexandria Junction (Before 1906) Track Plan

This picture is taken at the approximate location of Alexandria Junction. The railroad in the far left
distance is the Alexandria and Washington, leading to their Alexandria station on Oronoco Street. The railroad in the foreground is the
Alexandria, Loudoun and Hampshire Railroad. The curve running to the left is the connection between
the A&W and the AL&H, and allowed for access directly to Washington, DC. The structure in the far
right distance is the AL&H bridge over the A&W, the Washington Turnpike and the Alexandria Canal, and leads to the
AL&H station in downtown Alexandria at Princess and Fairfax Streets.
